Off we go to the Olympics: A cool event, not only for kids!
Lina, my knee-high little granddaughter of three wants to know just about everything. Herr current hobby is guessing flags. Of course she is familiar with the Swiss one. “What’s the German one like”?, she asks me. No problem. But then let’s go the whole way: with a grandmother from Munich she might as well get to know the Bavarian flag, too…
While browsing in a magazine she discovers the Olympic flag. “And which country is this”? So I have to explain the Olympic Games to her. To give her a better idea of it all, I suggest that we visit the Olympic Museum in Lausanne. Lina is delighted.
Although the museum is currently closed for refurbishment there is a “best-of” exhibition on the beautiful paddle steamer “Helvetie”, anchored just in front of the museum.
Spread out on 600 m² and three decks, the boat museum depicts highlights from 20 years of Olympic history, equally presenting great sports performances as well as human encounters, moments of bravery and fairness. Torches and medals complement architectural masterpieces and a clear commitment to the environment. Costumes, feasts, and celebrations evoke a sense of togetherness. The Olympics are not merely sports games, they also create emotions. Even little Lina seemed to understand this.
In 2012 and 2013, the opening hours of the temporary Olympic Museum will be daily from 9 a.m.
to 6 p.m., entrance free of charge.

Soooo cute when the little ones start to ask questions!!
I really do like your blog, it’s rather hard to find one that is not hosted by a teenage girl etc.
And what a nice boat!
