What is it like… to be a brand ambassador for Ovomaltine?
I asked myself when I’ve seen the button „Ovo Ambassador 2012“ on the profile picture of Rebekka, one of our Facebook fans. So I decided spontaneously to ask her and sent her an e-mail. Turns out that Rebekka is one of 20 Ovo Ambassadors for the year 2012! Here her answers:
Rebekka, how did you become an Ovo Ambassador?
Well, there was an application contest on Facebook last year. When I’ve seen what it was about I liked it straight away and subscribed. The participants had to answer a couple of questions about Ovomaltine, but the application as such was finalised by sending in a photo of yourself and a short motivation letter explaining why you want to become a brand ambassador for Ovomaltine in 2012. As you can imagine, I was well surprised when I heard that I was being selected! For 2013 there probably will be another opportunity to apply as Ovo Ambassador.
Why did you want to become an Ovo Ambassador at all?
Ovo has accompanied me since my childhood, really: first as Ovomaltine Drink for breakfast, then as choc ovo, the little snack for in-between and then as chocolate for pleasure. Sport and Ovo are both very important in my life, they keep me fit and procure me fun. Ovomaltine is a cool brand because for over more than hundred years it remains young. The brand identity is fresh, fun and stands for endurance and pleasure.
What exactly does a brand ambassador for Ovomaltine do?
Ovomaltine supports their ambassadors with information a
bout the newest products. We have access to them first and can share the product experience with our entourage. In return, we give feedback on how the products were perceived. On the occasion of Easter, for example, we had the sweet little Ovo Easter bunnies. All my friends found the super cute and almost regretted eating them. But boy where they tasty!
Do all Ovo Ambassadors know each other?
Ovo organises meetings for us in order to exchange experiences and foster the sense of community. On these occasions we learn a lot about Ovo and meet famous brand ambassadors such as Didier Cuche at Swiss Ski Championships in Veysonnaz. Of course these events are always fun and we laugh a lot! Other than there is a closed Facebook Group for Ovo Ambassadors allowing them to stay in touch with each other and to exchange about what they are doing at the moment and which events they have planned.
Apart from the activities organised by Ovo what else do you do?
I am organising outdoor events myself. That is my passion. So in February I have built igloos in Frutigen with a group of youths and we have stayed in them over night. In the morning Ovo has spoiled us with a copious breakfast. Full of strength we have the gone on a ski tour. I am going to organise a couple of other hiking tours for groups. You can find information about that on my Website or on my Facebook page. One walking tour over 5 days is planned and will be taking us around the Gotthard to the 4 sources of our big rivers, the Rhine, the Reuss, the Ticino and the Rhone and we will cross all four language regions of Switzerland. For activities like this Ovo supports us with products and promotion items. I myself receive regularly a power pack and goodies from Ovomaltine.
How can one become an Ovo ambassador oneself? You got tips?
I would recommend you regularly visit Ovo online, be it on their Website or their Facebook page. There you’ll always find contests and will be the first to be informed should Ovo recruit new brand ambassadors for 2013.
Many thanks for your feedback, Rebekka. We’re happy to have you in our community and wish you much fun and success being an Ovo Ambassador!
